Guess who’s here??!

First thing in the morning, I’m still alone in the office, just picking up the phone when I saw a small white n grey head popping up from behind the drawers close to the door! It reminded me of a hamster i had, it had long white hair, it was very active, and I got it as surprise gift –don’t get me started on how I love surprises- and most importantly its rotten dead in our backyard in Amman so this cant be it! This is just a mouse! IN MY OFFICE!

 

I was like: huh! (shah2a) when I heard my coworker from the other office: yeah the mouse? I saw it sneak into your office from under the door and forgot to tell you before you get in!!

So it “sneaked” in? Under the door? So that means it can go anywhere!

I slowly moved and looked around for something to throw at it and have it killed since it was still too early to get help! It ran quickly out and was out of sight!

Later I told my colleagues, and they didn’t seem as shocked as I was. Being the only female from our 120-150 employees on this project (look at the bright side, I have my own toilet  J ) and my first time on site, they did some casual explanation: this is very common on construction sites, its good it was just a mouse and not a rat or a snake!

 

Me: Okay?? So what do we do now? Live with it? It could be anywhere!!

Them: yup! Exactly! Searching’s a waste of time! If they get too much we’ll get people to kill them!

Me: but it was small! I’m sure it has family!

Them: yes… do you think this one dropped from the sky? It’s a huge site!

 

Cool! Live with it!

Since that, every now and then you hear someone laughing: the mouse! The mouse! Or: catch it we’re on lunch break!

For me, that’s like living in an action movie: I open the doors slowly, and look around, kick the boxes, look behind everything, make sure the place is clear before I get in! all i need is a gun and im james bond!

WHAT’S THAT STAR DOING IN THE GENIE’S EYE??!!

I found this pic yesterday in the morning as i was uploading pics of the closing ceremony of the Asian games for my previous post, there were 3 pics of the “genie of the lamp” in the official website of the Asian games, I posted one, and the other two made me very curious, later yesterday I wanted 2 show the strange pics to my friends but they were taken off the website!! It seems after having them they noticed they could get them some headache:

as we were watching the show, we only saw that the genie had red eyes, and all the pics taken from that distance couldnt get any details! (as u can see the genei’s pic in the previous post) it seems only a pic that close, with their own cameras, was showing a bit more to that!!

The closing ceremony of the 15th asian games – doha 2006

Wow! I thought the closing ceremony would be symbolic and short… but it was great! It was a lot more than what I expected! We had lots of fun… nice pics

and luckily it didn’t rain like the opening ceremony, but it was very cold though…

So this time, the closing ceremony was inspired by the ancient Arabic stories… as you get to your seat you find a (cheessa) like a red and gold cloth bag with lights, ribbons and flags in addition to a book, those are the things with which the spectators participate in the show (and you can see that in the background of the pics) its just like the box we had on the opening ceremony.

The show starts with the small Qatari boy on a flying carpet (bisat al reeh) who flies to put out the flame

and give it to the arabians who lived in the desert so they can make a fire through the night.

In the one thousands nights and one more night comes schehrezade on the moon telling the stories, and the little boy turns the pages of the huge book on stage while we watch the performers of each story

Murjana tries to trap the master of the thieves

Sindbad and his sailors come to rescue

And they get help from the genie of the lamp!

and other flying genies!

and then there was this samsung mvp award (most valued player)for a special athlete: a 17 year old korean swimmer Park Tae Hwan winner of 2 gold medals, 1 silver and several bronze (4give my ignorance i forgot the exact number, but thought that was impressive)

In the end, the torch is being handed over to china, the host of the next asian games, in a wonderful performance from china, in addiotion to the dancers there was a man using a huge brush and writing Chinese on the ground of the stadium

And ofcourse, as with the opening ceremony as well, the show ends in great fire works!!

1 gold medal: by Mohammed al Bakhit for men’s +54kg Taekwondo.

3 silver medals: by Yihia Abutabeekh for greco-roman 84kg wrestling, by Jameel Alkhuffash for men’s 67kg taekwondo, and by Alaa Kutkut for women’s 72kg taekwondo

4 bronze medals:  by Ahmad Al saafeen for men’s +90kg  bodybuilding, Talat Khalil for men’s kumite -75kg karate, Mutasembellah Khair for men’s kumite -80kg karate, Amer Abu afifeh for men’s kumite +80kg karate!!

 

congrats to them and to us all! and again: amazing ceremony!

انتعاش الحمضيات

عندي فلسفة زنخة، آل بس أكون مريضة باكل منيح و بستنّى جسمي يقاوم المرض لحالو. والدواء آخر خيار. حتى لو عندي صداع، بنام أو برتاح أو باكل أو (وفي جماعة رح يضحكو عليّ) بشّب ميّ.المهم من ليلة الجمعة بعد حفلة افتتاح الألعاب الأولمبية الآسيوية (اللي ما صدقت وهي تخلص لأنو التدريب كان ماخد مني وقت كتير) طلعت و أنا بحمد الله انو ما شتت علينا كتير، وللا هي الدنيا بدت تشتي، و (الباركن) بعيد، بتعرفو بس نتخوّت عالفيديو كليب اللي بديرو عالواحد سطل ميّ على أساس انّو مطر وبسير يعصر؟ أنا هيك صار فيي، و ما كنت متخيلة انها ممكن تمطر في الدوحة هيك، المهم روّحت و من يومتها لليوم و أنا حاسة حالي مريضة، و بقاوم المرض، و بروح عالشغل، لا و بروح عالنادي كمان! بلكي من هبلي حابة أعمل سسبنس!

مبارح صمدت للساعة 3 بالدوام وقلت اوكي برتاح اليوم و بداوم بكرة، لا و لمّا قررت اخيرا اني مش قادرة اتحمل و لازم أروّح قبل ما أبطّل قادرة اسوق السيارة بيجو يعرضو علي المساعدة: نوصلك؟؟ طب استني حرام بنوصلك! و برد بكل ثقة و انا دايخة ولا شايفة مين بحكي معي: لا لا عادي انا بسوق! ولو!

  وفي حربي اليائسة البائسة على المرض بالأساليب التقليدية: ما خلّيت اِشي الو دخل بالحمضيات.. عالفاضي

(على فكرة بتعرفو انو حبوب فيتامين سي الفوّار بدها وصفة طبية هون؟)

و داومت اليوم بعد 4 ايام مقاومة (لأ ما الي دخل في المعارضة في لبنان) سبت احد اتنين و التلاتاء وقعت طب!استسلمت ورحت للدكتور و رجعت محتارة، طيب ما انا ما كنت امرض في عمّان! و هي تاني مرة بالدوحة خلال 6 أشهر! نظرت نظرة شك الى شغالتنا الجديدة قلت بلكي جابتلنا انفلونزا الطيور هاي؟! (ما انا ازا صار عندي سخونة ببطل عقلي يشتغل و بقتنع اني راح اموت)

 و فردت كومة الأدوية قدامي اللي من كترهم تذكرت ستّي الله يرحمها.. وشو بدي أعمل يومين بالبيت في عزّ الاحتفالات و الفعاليات الثقافية هالأسبوعين في الدوحة يعني يا دوب أشوف منهم 3 معارض أو حفلات باليوم مشان الحق أشوفهم كلهم!وهي راح عليّ عرض الأزياء الآسيوي اللي كان اليوم آخر يوم و مجلوطة.. ما خلصت عجقة افتتاح الألعاب الآسيويةوبلشّت الأشياء الحلوة من هون و أنا مرضت من هون

انا حظي بفلق الحجر.. و اللي ما الو حظ لا يتعب ولا يشقى
